Online Security Tips/Scam Alert

Phishing is a common type of cyber attack that targets individuals through email, text messages, phone calls, and other forms of communication.

Due to an increase in phishing activity across the Financial Industry, CAKCSOD wants to provide all our customers with some information to help you recognize phishing emails and what to do if you receive them.


How to identify phishing emails:
  • Grammatical or typographical errors, or poorly constructed sentences and phrases

  • Links in emails that to to Websites that do not begin with https://cakcsod.org.


  • If you receive a suspicious email that appears to be from CAKCSOD, please do the following:


  • Do not respond to the message or click on ay of the links, or change the email in any. Forward the email to customercare@cakcsod.org

  • Delete the email immediately after forwarding it.

  • Check to make sure that your virus definitions and anti-Spyware are up-to-date, and scan the computer, especially if you accidentally clicked on the link in the email.


  • Top fraud tips
  • Shop safely online. Be wary of any business that asks you to pay for online purchases using prepaid debit cards, gift cards, wire transfers or other payment forms that cannot be traced or undone.

  • Be aware of e-scams. If you are ever unsure whom an email is from, do not respond and avoid clicking on any link or attachments. When available, use the 'junk' or 'block' option to no longer receive messages from a particular sender.

  • Think before you click. Do not do secure work such as online banking, accessing work documents or work emails on unsecure public Wi-Fi networks. Check to make sure the lock symbol is next to the Wi-Fi network before going on to the network to do secure work.

  • Watch out for an advance-fee scam. Receiving an email or text message or phone call stating that you have won a lottery jackpot or that you have inherited a large sum of money, and you are to make a payment for "taxes" and "administration" for the funds to be released.


  • Tips for carrying cash (Individuals/Businesses)
  • Carry as little cash as possible

  • Pay your accounts electronically.

  • Alternate the days and times you deposit cash.

  • Never make your visits to the bank public. Don't openly display your money in the bank queue.

  • Avoid carrying money bags or openly displaying deposit receipts books.

  • Don't pay wages in view of the public.

  • Avoid using a company-branded vehicle to go to the bank.
